Jerry Pyle and Associates
is a d.b.a. of Pyle Family Affiliated
Companies, Inc. which is a corporation
designed to provide health care related
services throughout Texas; however, has
occasionally upon request expanded into
Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas,
Arkansas, and Florida.
Jerry Pyle and Associates is an independent consultant
pharmacist firm that is not associated with any
providers of pharmaceutical products.
Jerry Pyle and Associates
has consulted long term
care facilities for 26 years. Being independent from
a pharmacy provider allows the consultant to work
with and for the nursing home facility, without
conflicts or favoritism to any pharmacy provider. It
allows the consultant to be part of the consultant/
nursing/administrative team which makes decisions
for what is best for the facility’s residents.
Jerry Pyle and Associates,
in addition to having the facility
resident’s healthcare as a primary interest,
also is active in assuring that the nursing
facility is in compliance with all
regulations. This is achieved by reviews
of medical records, performing detailed
medication regimen reviews (MRR), observing
nursing staff’s technique in medication
administration, and communication with the
attending physician, medical director and
director of nursing, concerning any
irregularity identified. The consultants
present in-service training to the nursing
staff to assure the proper procedures are
followed pertaining to; documentation,
medication administration technique,
monitoring of adverse effects of
medications, and appropriate laboratory
tests to monitor for adverse effects of
medications or effectiveness of the
prescribed medications.
Jerry Pyle and Associates
performs medication regimen reviews (MRR) on
all residents every month. This is a
quality improvement and risk management
initiative intended to identify potential
and actual irregularities in drug therapy,
including inappropriate combinations of
medications, adverse drug reactions and
interactions and the use of medications that
are no longer needed. MRR also serves to
optimize the benefits of the therapy that
the resident is receiving. After a MRR is
performed, the consultant reports their
findings to the appropriate person to make
changes to correct these irregularities.
Frequently this involves making drug therapy
recommendation to the attending physician.
